Personal Statement

Dear Recruiting Coach,

I am looking for a home. I am for the first time thinking seriously about D2, where I could have an additional playing year. I have been hurt two of three of the last seasons. I had many D2 offers in the past but I was in a D1 mind frame. I am a D1 athlete, hopeful that a coach will recruit me despite my not playing in 2014 having a torn hamstring since pre-season workouts. I would be in my third year now, with two playing years left I believe in D1 or three in D2, and start at your school in January. I may be able to also petition the NCAA to get back one of the two injured seasons. I have had injuries since 2011, which redirected my recruitment since I tripped and/or was high on the recruiting boards of 2011: Vanderbilt, Penn State, TCU, Purdue, Tennessee, Colorado, with offers despite a broken foot to S. Dakota, San Diego, Air Force, and others. Please talk to my coaches and review my film to see that I can contribute right away. I have posted in March 2014 my 2013 Pima Community College high lites. I relocated back home to Scottsdale and enrolled at Mesa Community College. I would have been playing for Mesa Community College in 2014, but I am not dressing as I have a serious hamstring injury. I could be graduating in December and ready to begin at a recruited school in January 2015. I attended Pima CC in January 2013 and played outside and inside Line Backer. It appears that I was penciled in as a Strong Safety/Linebacker Hybrid that blitzes. This is a great position considering my athleticism and quickness and ability to rush the passes and create disruption behind the line of scrimmage. I am currently looking for a D1 opportunity in 2015. I sat out my first year of college after being on the depth chart at a Pac 12 program. Working out during summer school I had severe lingering soreness in the repaired foot from my senior high school year injury.  I had had several D1 A and many D1 AA, D2, and D3 offers since high school and I am very appreciative. Initially as a senior in high school I fell off many D1 boards due to the first game foot injury and then I tried to sort through many existing offers at the time . The loss of interest by programs I went to camps and went on recruiting invites, weighed heavy on my judgement. I took an in state "preferred walk-on" on in the Pac 12. I showed medically full recovery from my senior year injury and got faster and bigger; however, I could not get the time with the trainer and rehab to overcome the lingering pain and soareness that resulted probably from over-training. I realized in the D1 Program I tried, I would have played this year and timing was off. I wanted to rest my foot and mature some so I sat out. ~~ I left the program and I received my release due to the foot repair not yet feeling 100%.

In high school, I was a top 150 ESPN, RIVALS, and SCOUT.COM athlete and top 100 Big RB by Tom Lemming. Entering my senior year I was a 2 Star Rival, Scout, and ESPN as an "Athlete" and "RB". I believe in retrospect that I could have been a 3 or 4 Star linebacker going into my senior year; however the two time State Champion coaching staff did not want to risk me on defense, so I had no film except sophomore varsity film when I was awarded a second team All-Region Safety.

My high school team finished my final season nationally ranked #56 by MaxPreps, #24 by Scout.com,  and #26 by ESPN in the country. My high school record was 47-5. We won the Division II State Championship (I have now been on three (3) State Championship teams), and in my senior year I was one of two, two-way starters along with Davonte Neil. In the State Championship semi-final game, I was awarded the game MVP by the Arena Bowl Arizona Football Rattlers and also given the game ball by Scout.com; scoring three (3) of the four (4) TD’s and the game winner as well recording seven (7) solo tackles with five (4) for loss. I had offers from Air Force, University of San Diego, University of Virginia, and South Dakota State with several more from small schools. Arizona media rated me for my senior year as the #5 RB and #35 state prospect. Since being an All Region Safety as a sophomore, I have been “under the radar” as a defensive player because I only played offense as a junior (the team returned 9 defense starters from a State Championship team and I was a transfer) and was out hurt this year for 10 games. I have been told I am a proto-type OLB with 4.57 speed and 4.1 shuttle and 6.6 L-Cone quickness Here is the 11/29/2011 link to the season high lights for copying:    http://youtu.be/FBUbdcuq68I . Here also is a 7 minute video made on 11/9/2011 showing first comeback game on National Fox Sports:  http://youtu.be/B1Z-sq0gUMY

I was one of my senior year Captains and despite missing 2/3 of the year, awarded again as "Honorable Mention All State RB". I have added a single game video (middle film) which has parts of our 2010 State Championship win where I was the leading offensive rusher (133 All Purpose)and scored basically the winning touchdown on 4th and Goal; while also setting up three of our TD's and two segments of 2010 high-lights. The significance of this game is that the opponent was #4 in the Country for much of 2009, had won three straight State Titles before we captured it in 2009 and the match-up is two of the best Arizona Programs. Also you will see two sets of high lights for 2010 (left side). One being the last 5 games and the other the first 9 games. Additionally, the 2009 sophomore high lights include more receiving and defensibe plays at Safety (awarded All Region DB as a sophomore and was third in receptions out of the slot). Here is a link to U Tube of the 2010 high lights that include a few more plays and is copy and pasteable for you, if you chose to share it that way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_N4zc_GvIw. As a junior, I was the leading rusher for the Scottsdale Firebirds (14-0) which was the 2010 POWERADE ESPN RISE #22 and 2011 MaxPreps #24 in the Country. We won State 5A2 Championship on December 13, 2010. In 14 games I  rushed for 20 TD's with an 8 yard per carry average and threw one 54 yeard pass for TD. Because The Firebirds had 10 College scholarship players and we scored so fast and so much (54+ points per game before starters are pulled) I only average around 8 touches per game; mostly in-between the tackles. My role included key blocking assignments, short yardage needs, and big plays when we needed them. I can be seen playing defense (safety) in the NCSA 2009 Varsity high lite video (my sophomore year. I was awarded All Region DB that year). I took the ACT on December 11th, 2010 and scored 94 points with an average of 23. My SAT scores are: 470 Reading; 580 Math; and 430 Writing. MY Positions: Athlete, RB, LB, HB/FB, WR, and Safety. In 2009, I was a two way starter as a sophomore, on State Champion Scottsdale Saguaro Sabercat's. This was a huge honor. I am now a 6'1", 220 pound skill player that can be best described as an exciting, solid position player, who first is a team player. An excellent blocker, dangerous due to the game breaking abilities I have been blessed with and I am "football fast". Very quick (5.59 L Cone and 4.0 5-10-5 shuttle), good vision, elusive, athletic, with excellent hands. I have been rated in the L-Cone and the 20 yard shuttle as one of the quickest at my age in the country (#1 Under Armor and Future Pros Combines. Top 1% Nationally in the Athletic Republic data base). I am consistantly running 4.6's at combines and have run a 4.56 at the D1 Combine in Knoxville Tennessee in the spring of 2011. As a sophomore, I started as an H-Back/Slot Receiver, Safety, and Kick Returner and also had 46 reps as the single halfback. I ran for three touchdowns and averaged about 7 yards per carry on 46 carries and caught 18 passes averaging about 15 yards a catch on a team that did not throw much. I was the third on the team in catches. On special teams, I blocked 2 punts and returned 2 out of 7 kick off returns for touchdowns of 98 and 96 yards and a 40 yard average per KO. This would have tied me for top returner in the State if I had the minimum 10 KO returns. I have also played in schemes where the ball is direct snapped; so I feel comfortable running wildcat, throwing option passes, and being involved in special teams trick plays running, receiving, or throwing. I also played varsity strong safety as a sophomore (received ALL REGION DB Honors). My final sophomore stats for 2009 show about 810 yards all purpose yards, with 6 touchdowns and my Junior stats are 8 yards per carry, 1300 All Purpose, with 21 touchdowns. I was honored by opposing coaches by being voted ALL REGION as a sophomore and All City RB, All Region RB, and Honorable Mention All State Running back as a junior this year. A great compliment by a SCOUT.COM analyst was that I am "versatile" , "a great athlete" and can play several positions. Thank you.
