Hi, my name is Alex Raya. I am 17 years old. I am a senior at Beaumont High School, in Beaumont, CA. I am in the class of 2015. I am the starting kicker for the varsity football team. This is my third year on the varsity level as a kicker. I started playing at the age of 11. I have been kicking since then and really enjoy it. I work hard to improve my skills and technique daily, on and off the field. I have attended kicking camps and Kohls Professional Kicking showcase in Southern California. There is always room for improvement. My junior year I kicked a 51 yard field goal setting my high school record for longest field goal. Two weeks later, I kicked a long field goal of 49 yards. I came in second in the county of Riverside for the longest field goal. I went 7 for 9 on field goals with an average of 35 to 40 yards. My kickoffs were averaging 65 to 70 yards consistently. This year I have improved greatly getting my kickoffs to 70 yards consistently. I am a very hard working athlete who's goal is to play on the Division 1 level college but I am open to other options. I feel I can be a starting kicker in a Division 1 college as a freshman. Over the summer I mastered kicking off the ground. For some high school kickers going into college football, it may be difficult to make the transition from kicking off a block, to kicking off the ground. I feel this puts me at an advantage once I'm in the college level. I will be kicking off the ground this season. I feel it is very important for college coaches to know this. Besides football, I also play soccer and baseball for the high school I attend. My sophomore year, I had the highest batting average, struck out six times the entire season, and was the most consistent. I was named MVP. My junior year, I was on the varsity level and was a designated hitter. I was in the top five for highest batting average. I am a well rounded athlete. I have been playing sports since the age of five and my goal is to continue in the college level. I volunteer for our community for Junior All American Football during the week on on game days. Besides being an all around athlete, I am a student athlete first. I work hard in class to maintain good grades. I have received multiple scholar athlete awards for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. My main focus is to improve my cumulative GPA and increase my SAT score.
