Personal Statement
My goal has always been to earn my degree while being a student athlete. When I was younger I played numerous sports at a highly competitive club level, including football, basketball, baseball, and soccer. I found my true passion for football as a freshman in high school. Although I continued to play high school basketball, I knew it was football that I wanted to play while attending college. I am a three-year varsity football starter. My junior year was shortened when I broke my collarbone in the second game of the season. I was only able to play 10 quarters of football in 2013, but had 19 receptions for 519 yards. Although these numbers were great for 10 quarters of playing time, they were not enough to generate early recruiting interest. In 2014 I was able to bounce back with a breakout season my senior year. At 6’3 185 pounds and a standing vertical jump of 35 inches I have the physical attributes to compete as a receiver at the highest level. In the 2014 season I had 67 catches for 1,405 yards and 13 touchdowns. Our team finished 14-0 and won a CIF Southern Section Championship. My personal honors include being selected All CIF Receiver, All Area Team, and All Pacific League. I also was selected and participated in the 2014 NUC All American game on December 30th in South Carolina and was invited to play for the U19 USA Football Development team. My primary goals now are to find a good academic school where I can earn my degree, participate in college and surrounding community activities and help my new team win with my athleticism and work ethic. The recruiting process has been somewhat frustrating because of my injury in my junior year. In southern California I have played with and against top national recruits with numerous D1 offers and know that I can compete. I have stopped worrying about the recruiting process and am confident that the right opportunity will become available and I will find the right fit and my new school will find an exceptional player and student that has been overlooked in the recruiting process.
