Personal Statement
My name is Joey Berzins and I want to play college football. Football has been a big part of my life. It has brought me great friends and has taught me many life lessons to date. I am excited and motivated to have the opportunity to obtain a higher education while playing the game I love.
I've been aspiring to be a college football player as far back as I can remember. I remember watching Navy win over Army in the Army-Navy Football game for many years (13 straight) with my Dad. In addition to wanting to do well in school, football has motivated me to push myself even further, going above and beyond just doing well, in order to be a better candidate to play college football.
In the past two years, as a Freshman and as a Sophomore I was able to play with the Varsity in practice and during play-off games. I came to the realization that no matter how hard I train or how much effort I put in, there will always be at least one area that someone will be more skilled in than I. I have used this knowledge to my advantage and have applied it to my work ethic. I know someone will always be better than me in at least one area, I know that there will always be areas I can improve in both on and off the field. I generally love to train and see myself improve week after week. I am a driven person who sets goals and works tirelessly to achieve my goals to the fullest.
I am a person who needs to strive for perfection. If I am not able to reach perfection, the only way I can be satisfied is knowing that I went as far as I could, fought as hard as possible, and pushed myself to my limits.
I know a lot of people who want to be recruited to play college football. It is difficult to measure how much I want it vs how much the other guy wants it but I can say with absolute confidence, that at this point in my life, my biggest goals are to play college football and graduate from college. I will do whatever it takes to get there.
