Personal Statement
My friends are as important to me as my family. Spending time getting to know people is my favorite past time. As an only child, my parents have always been the people I discuss important issues with and selecting a college is no different. Spending time with my family rejuvenates my spirits.. Anytime I need an explanation or assistance anyone in my family will aid me.
A lack of maturity greatly affected my first two years at high school. I was very distracted with hanging out with friends, playing video games, and going to school events. I lacked focus on the things that mattered the most like my grades. My priorities were not straight and that almost destroyed my grade point average. During this time my household also became financially unstable. Everyday was a struggle for us. I constantly worried for my parents and myself. It added stress to my life and it became necessary for me to do odd jobs during the summer so that I could earn money to cover educational expenses. I feel hard work is important because I see how important it would be for my future family.
I have learned many things from school. Life will not always will be easy and you have to strive to succeed rather than just quit. You have to remain focused and do all work that is assigned by teachers. School has a been a great way for me to learn how to manage my time. Homework and my studies must come first before hanging out with friends. My communication skills have been honed throughout these four years of high school. If you don’t speak up for what you want or need you won’t get it and will most likely struggle or fail.
I like to spend my time playing sports and staying fit. I have strived to stay fit and be a great football player. Being on the Poly High School football team is more than just being surrounded by friends; it is a brotherhood that can not be broken.
My plan after high school is to go straight to a four year college. I want to major in sports medicine and minor in public health. I chose these because I enjoy being friendly and helping people. Gaining the knowledge to assist athletes would give me an opportunity to apply for a job with an NFL team and stay close to the thing I love the most which is football. However, my lifetime dream is to play in the NFL.
I am looking forward to being part of a better community while living on campus. Being able to walk outside and greet people without having to worry what they might try to do to me would be great. I also want to be able to contribute to a community that needs help. I am looking forward to learning all I can to be able to contribute on a global scale.
