Dylan Irwin '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Dylan Irwin and I am from San Diego, CA. I will be a 2016 graduate. I am an only child who has been raised by my single mother, without any father figure. When I started playing youth football at the age of 7 my Coaches took that place in my life. For the most part I have been coached by the same men throughout my youth football years. We had a very tight football league and did everything together. I looked up to those men and they have had a huge impact on me as a player and as a person. I would not be who I am today, without those men in my life. They taught me to be dedicated, committed, fair, be a team player and have good sportsmanship. I took those values off the field as well, knowing that these men were the best role models I would ever have. Those coaches and the other kids on my team were like a family to me.

Getting into a University and playing football all four years is a goal I have had ever since Elementary school. One of my mentors was an engineering major and got to travel the world studying Oceanic Engineering. I would like to earn a Bachelors Degree in this field and possibly go on for a Masters Degree at some point. I consider myself blessed if I could do this while also playing my favorite sport. I have also had some interest in the Coast Guard and did an essay on this career choice in my Advanced English class. 

Football has always been a big part of my life both on and off the field. I have a deep passion for this sport. Although I was voted Most Valuable Player on Junior Varsity last year, I realize that I did not do it alone. It takes an entire team to make a good play or get that touchdown. My teammates are my friends too and we spend a lot of time together off the field. My biological family is just me and my Mom. So my football family means more to me than anything.
