My name is Curt Calomeni and I am currently a junior on the varsity football team at Bellarmine College Preparatory High School. Playing college football has been my ultimate dream for as long as I can remember. Ever since my first Pop Warner Practice in 4th grade, I’ve worked as hard as I could to become a more athletic and skillful player. Football challenges me on every level, forcing me to be the best athlete I can be, not just for myself but more importantly for my team. Football has given me the drive to push myself in the classroom as well. It’s very important to me to work as hard as I can academically as well as athletically which means sacrifice and has taught me the importance of focus and commitment. For me, this does not end in the fall, but continues through the year. During the off seasons of winter and spring, we practice every day at 7 AM. We work on strength and conditioning as well as skill drills. After school, I work on speed and agility training at least three times a week. Formal practice and conditioning begins in the summer, one week after the school year ends. Last summer I really enjoyed volunteering to help disabled kids ride horses and play baseball because I could see how much joy I was bringing to them.
