Personal Statement
I'd say what sets me apart from other candidates is my outstanding work ethic and determination, and of course my love for football. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to play football. It is my passion. I've been told that I had no fear as a child. I have continued into my adulthood with the same "full speed ahead & nothing can stop me" attitude. I am also a good, honest, hard working person, with strong moral values, and to treat others with respect.
Playing football has taught me some very important life lessons. I have learned to appreciate the value of family, integrity, hard work, and I am truly grateful for the opportunities I have been given. Football has taught me the importance of teamwork, leadership, commitment, resilience, and has made me mentally and physically strong. In football, as in life, sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose, but it is always important to do your best and NEVER give up. I have learned what means to "fight" when you have everything to lose, and the value of "brotherhood" when I walk onto that field with my teammates to go to battle every week. My teammates are my brothers on and off the field. Also that no one is perfect, even when I make mistakes, I learn from them, and even when we lose, it is important to never lose the lesson. I've learned to use my frustration as a motivator to do better next time, and to keep a positive attitude. The experience and knowledge I have gained has made me a stronger, more confident and capable person, and has given me the tools I need to succeed in life.
I had an amazing freshman year at San Diego State in 2015. I played with many great players, and experienced a winning culture built on mental toughness. We went undefeated in conference, won the Mountain West Championship, and won the Hawaii Bowl. I couldn't have asked for a better first year college experience. Going forward, my ultimate goal is to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Communications, and hopefully play football for another great college. I am currently playing for Moorpark College on the Oline, and am one of the team captains. After this season, I will have 2 more years left of eligibility and would love to help my new team win another championship. I will continue to set the bar higher and strive to be the best at what I do, both on the filed and off. After graduation, when I am done playing football, I intend to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. I would like a career in which I can still be part of the sport that I love, and working with athletes from every sport, and all walks of life.
