AUGUST 27, 2015
I'VE BEEN OUT OF FOOTBALL FOR A YEAR NOW, BUT STAYING IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. I WILL NOT CONSIDER CONTINUING TO PLAY FOOTBALL WITHOUT A SCHOLARSHIP FOR MY REMAINING YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY. I AM, ALWAYS HAVE BEEN, AND STILL COULD BE A SUCCESSFUL IMPACT PLAYER AT MY MIDDLE LINEBACKER POSITION SHOULD I CHOOSE TO CONTINUE TO PLAY. I INTEND TO BE JUST AS SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE SHOULD I CHOOSE TO MOVE ON. I HAVE PROVEN MYSELF FROM POP WARNER, HIGH SCHOOL AND AT THE JUCO LEVEL PLAYING FOR SBCC. I HAVE PROVEN I AM A PLAYER THAT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A QUALITY PROGRAM. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A MIDDLE LINEBACKER THAT LEADS BY PERFORMANCE, TIME IS RUNNING OUT!  MEET ME IN PERSON, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT KIND OF QUALITY PROGRAM YOU HAVE TO OFFER!

THANKS,  MORGAN NEVIN

JUNE, 2015

I WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE PLAYING FOOTBALL AT A GOOD D1, D1AA, OR DII SCHOOL. AS OF YET I HAVE BEEN INVITED TO VISIT WITH ONLY 2 COACHING STAFF'S, ALL THE WHILE I'VE BEEN WATCHING PLAYER'S FROM MY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CONFERENCE (WHICH INCLUDE THE L.A. AREA INNER CITY JUCO SCHOOLS), PLAYER'S AT MY MIDDLE LINEBACKER POSITION THAT ARE MY SIZE, GET SCHOLARSHIPS TO SCHOOLS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. NONE OF THEIR STATS COMPARE WITH WHAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH AT SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE. I LOVE FOOTBALL,  I AM DISCOURAGED WITH THE RECRUITING PROCESS.  I HAVE A 3.4 GPA. THE END OF JUNE IS THE END OF THE LINE FOR ME.  I AM PROUD AND SATISFIED WITH MY JUNIOR COLLEGE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, FOR BEING ONE OF THE TOP JUCO LINEBACKERS IN THE COUNTRY NOT ONLY STATISTICALLY  BUT ALSO FOR BEING A CONFIDENT, GOOD AND SMART PLAYER! WHEN I CAME TO THE PROGRAM AT SBCC THEY WERE 0-10 WHEN I LEFT THEY WERE 7-4. MY STATS FOR MY SECOND YEAR, 2013 WERE 139 TACKLES IN 9 GAMES, 257 TACKLES IN 19 GAMES FOR MY 2 YEARS AT SBCC.  I LED BY EXAMPLE, AS A QUIET, FOCUSED AND INTENSE PLAYER.  I WILL TAKE THE DICIPLINE AND SKILLS I'VE LEARNED, MOVE ON, FINISH MY COLLEGE EDUCATION AND BEGIN A SUCCESSFUL CAREER IN REAL ESTATE WITH MY DAD! FOOTBALL HAS BEEN A VERY IMPORTANT AND POSITIVE PART OF MY LIFE! I'D LIKE TO THANK THOSE COACHES AND PLAYERS WHO BELIEVED IN ME AND MOTIVATED ME ALONG THE WAY, IT'S BEEN A GREAT RIDE! I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT CHAPTER OF MY LIFE!

I am a JUCO transfer middle linebacker who can help your program now! with a proven track record. I have the experience, athletic ability, the grades, the natural football instincts, am a quick study and who has always excelled at my middle linebacker position leading not only the State of California in tackles per game at SBCC but also tops in the Nation! I am looking for the right program, the right opportunity! You can see my history and my profile, it speaks for itself.

Thanks,  Morgan

>September 10, 2014

I have an NCAA release from Sacramento State for the 2014 season after the head coach and primary staff resigned because of recruiting violations. I have 2 years of college eligibility left.  I continued my studies at Sac State, staying in excellent condition and am ready to consider opportunities at other schools for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. I don't understand the politics of the recruiting process. After being one of the top JUCO linebackers in the Country in 2012 and 2013, I have always worked hard to earn what I have attained, simply being a walk on, is not a consideration for my final 2 years. I am looking for a scholarship, partial scholarship or some form of commitment. I would like to continue my success as a player and a student in a good quality program! If you are interested please contact me and we can discuss my current situation and how I might contribute to your football program! It would be important for you to meet me, see the kind of person I am, see that I have consistently maintained a 3.6 GPA, see my personality, see my size and physical build, this might help you understand why I have always been at the top of my game, averaging nearly 16 tackles per game in the 2013 season in one of the toughest JUCO systems in California which includes all the LA inner city schools. Please check my stats and profile!

 Respectfully,   Morgan Nevin

                                          PERSONAL STATEMENT

My name is Morgan Nevin and I’m the No. 1 tackler in California at Santa Barbara City College.

I just wrapped up my sophomore season at SBCC. I lead the state of California in tackles for the second year in a row with 139 in nine games (California has nearly 80 JC football programs).

I am not only the top JuCo Linebacker in the state but also arguably top in the nation and I know I can fit in well with your program. I have proved my ability consistently the past two seasons with over 250 tackles, earning All-State, All-Conference, Defensive MVP (2012 and 2013 seasons), and Pre-Season All-American Honors.

This season at SBCC our base defense was a 4-2-5 with variations of 3-3-5, 4-4-3, 4-3-4(Nickel), and 4-2-6(Dime). My main position is inside linebacker. I have played inside and outside of the box, covering running backs, slot receivers and tight ends. I have played outside linebacker in space and up on the line of scrimmage. I can read keys and get off blocks very quickly, which allows me to get to the ball and stop the run extremely effectively.

What truly sets me apart from other linebackers, besides my stats, is the fact that I am a very intelligent player with a high football IQ. I can pick up on schemes and coverage very quickly, which allows me to react faster and be a coach on the field, knowing not only my responsibilities, but everyone on the defense responsibilities as well.

Aside from that, I am an extremely competitive and hard working person. I make it a priority to be the best not only on the field, but in the weight room and classroom as well.

The 2013 season was my best! I was the leading JuCo tackler in the state of CA averaging over 15 tackles per game at SBCC and setting a school record of 28 tackles in one game against Santa Monica. I was awarded college football player of the year by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table for the 2nd year in a row.

I have attained my associate degree with a 3.6 GPA. I encourage you to take a look at my 2013-2014 highlight film (attached) to see for yourself the type of player I am, but better yet! meet me face to face and see the kind of person I am!

I look forward to meeting or talking with you soon and I appreciate your time and interest.

Sincerely,   Morgan Nevin  #33

“Our defense was out there a lot of the time and we couldn’t keep our offense on the field,” said Nevin, a 6-1 sophomore who boosted his state-leading tackle average to 15.8 per game. “We had some missed coverages and miscommunication on a couple of their big plays.

Oct. 19, 2013  SBCC’s defense -- ranked No. 1 in Southern California in scoring defense at 15.6 per game – was solid again. Nevin, a sophomore linebacker, made 13 tackles with 2.5 sacks, cornerback Tavonte Jackson intercepted a pair of passes and Lockwood had a season-high 11 tackles, including 2.5 for loss.

“The defense stepped up when we needed to and the offense hung in there,” said Nevin, the state leader in tackles. “Our third-string quarterback had a good game and didn’t throw a pick. And all our kickers were great.

As of August 2013, I am going to play my sophomore year at SBCC after a very successful freshman year. I am 6'1" and 231 lbs and confident I will have a good year. I plan to transfer to a division 1 program after this season (2nd semester). I have had several offers but have not committed to any schools yet. My mission is to be the best junior college linebacker in the Calif junior college system this season. Last year I was second best, not good enough for me!

2013 Preview: Vaqueros counting on defense

Defense could be the difference for SBCC’s football team.

The Vaqueros have produced the leading tackler in the state the last two years in linebackers Manny Hernandez and Morgan Nevin. They also had the No. 2 defense in the offensive-minded American Pacific Conference last season.

Linebacker Morgan Nevin led the state in tackles

last year with nearly 12 per game.

Nevin, a 6-1, 230-pounder from Truckee, Calif., earned All-State honors after averaging 11.8 tackles a game during last year’s 4-6 campaign. He’s back for his sophomore year, along with fellow Truckee grads Jackson Weed (linebacker) and safety Colin Christian, who had 80 tackles as a freshman.

The Vaqueros return six starters on defense and five on offense. There were 86 players on the roster, as of Aug. 26, including 52 freshmen.

“Morgan was outstanding last year and he had a really good spring,” said seventh-year coach Craig Moropoulos. “We’ve got that ‘Truckee Connection’ with Morgan, Jackson and Colin. Marquis Cobb (another sophomore) had an excellent summer and spring at cornerback. There’s some guys on defense that we are really excited about.

“The big test is going to be up front, as it is on offense. It always starts there.”

SBCC opens its season on Sept. 7 with a 4 p.m. game against Hancock at Righetti High. The home opener is Saturday, Sept. 14 vs. East Los Angeles at 1 p.m.

If there is any question about my talent, my athletic ability and my desire to to be the best I can be, I might suggest you contact Coach Tom Mason defensive coordinator at SMU where I was a red shirt walk on!

My bio follows;

After leaving Truckee High School I went to SMU and made the team as a walk on. After redshirting for SMU for the first part of 2011, I transferred to SBCC (Santa Barbara City College) to prepare for the 2012 season with the goal of earning a scholarship. I just completed my first year of college eligibility as a linebacker for SBCC and finished the season as the No. 1 tackler in Southern California, 2nd in the entire state by 1 tackle! I earned First Team All California Linebacker, and First Team All-Pacific Conference Linebacker. I finished with 118 tackles in 10 games including 45 solo, 15 for loss and 2 forced fumbles. I am now almost 20 years old, bigger, stronger, faster and more experienced than my high school days.

Some things about an athlete can't be measure by statistics alone, like the kind of person you are. I've always been a quiet leader, leading by my actions and work ethic both on and off the field. At Truckee High School, I was voted team captain unanimously by my fellow players and always led the team onto the field. I'm focused, disciplined and have always led by example, giving 110% every minute of every game and practice. A prime example of this was during the 2010 3A state championship game in Las Vegas, NV. We were down in the 2nd quarter for the first time all year. I stepped up and finished my high school career with 150 rushing yards, 80 receiving yards, 16 tackles and 3 touchdowns. We went on to win that game 27-7.

If my academics and my film does not quite sell you, I suggest a meeting in person. Once you get a feel for my attitude and character, I am confident that you will agree I can be an asset to your team.

SBCC Vaqueros Morgan Nevin & Wade Norberg named to All-State football squad. Nevin led all Southern Cal tacklers with 118. SBCC linebacker Morgan Nevin and offensive tackle Wade Norberg have been selected to the All-State Region 5 football squad. Morgan Nevin Nevin, a 6'1" freshman from Truckee, Calif., was the top tackler in Southern California, averaging 11.8 per game for the Vaqueros, who went 4-6. Nevin had 45 solo tackles and 15 for loss. He recorded 11 or more tackles in seven of his 10 games with a season-high of 17 in the Aug. 31 opener vs. Hancock. “Morgan is a very good tackler who runs well,” said fifth-year coach Craig Moropoulos. “We knew he had the capabilities. He’s got a great work ethic and that helped him have a great freshman year.”  “Getting two guys on the all-state team is a good accomplishment. They were both unanimous choices on the all-conference team. It’s always nice to see young people recognized"

In May of 2013 Morgan was selected by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table as Athlete of the Year for football at SBCC.
