Personal Statement

Football is the greatest sport ever to have been played on this planet. To the average person football is just another sport.  But to me, it is so much more. It is a way to escape the craziness of the world by by allowing me to focus on personal and team goals, and pushing myself physically and mentally to accomplish more than I thought was possible. It is a chance to learn and grow with other like-minded people to accomplish our goals together and to build a brotherhood that will last a lifetime.

I play football, basketball, and track. I find that sports, especially football, have a way of teaching you life lessons. I am a very competitive person.  I love the rush that I feel when playing hard and the satisfaction after winning a game.  Even after a loss, I love the feeling of renewal on Monday and the anticipation of improving and playing again.  I love the friendships and trust that I have with my teammates. Without football I think I would loose some of that drive that I have to succeed in the classroom because football gives me the mentality to challenge myself in all aspects of my life. I have a 4.0 GPA. I have received the scholar award for my class in 2016 and I have been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll every semester so far. I have also earned academic all-league.  At the All-Poly Underclassman Camp in 2015,  I earned the  Tight-End/Receivers MVP award.  I started on varsity at Defensive End my sophomore year.  I am working on my Eagle Scout and am active in my church and community.

It is my goal to play football in college.   After college, I want to use the connections that I made there and my degree in Kinesiology and Human Performance to help me have a career as a  strength and conditioning and football coach at the collegiate level. I think that my greatest character traits, that will help me to achieve my goals, are my drive to challenge myself and inner commitment to finish what I start. I think of myself as a leader and I strive to be someone that people can look up to and follow the example that I have set. I take initiative, do honest work with all my energy and focus, and try to improve every day. To me those make up a good work ethic. I hope to keep improving myself on and off the football field to become the best person I can be.
