Personal Statement
My name is Anthony Amaro and I am a senior at Central East High School in Fresno, California. I am on course to graduate in June of 2014 with an average 3.0 GPA and I have scored 29 on the A.C.T. I have been a student athlete all four years of my high school career. I have also enjoyed volunteering as a player mentor with our elementary level sporting events. Helping young athletes has always been a big part of my passion for football.
My future goals include acceptance in a four year university that will allow me to continue to expand my education and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree. Academics are my number one priority and I look forward to attending a college that would allow me to grow and succeed.
My high school football career has had multiple obstacles for me to overcome. I suffered a shoulder injury at the beginning of my sophomore year which required surgery at the end of the season. After surgery, I had to rehabilitate quickly as I was transitioned from the Offensive Line Left Tackle to the Tight End position. At the end of my sophomore year, my school hired a new head coach Justin Garza. I spent my junior year learning a new position and trained hard on my receiver skills as the new Offensive Coordinator informed me a new offense was going to installed utilizing 2 Tight ends. During my incoming senior summer, I competed in multiple summer camps and actually received an MVP award for best TE receiver at the Stockton NUC combine. As my senior season started, my coaches told me the team needed me on the Defensive side of the ball because of my size and physical features with strength and long arms. I was now switched to the D-line and started learning the Defensive End position. I was seriously concerned as I haven't played D-end since the 7th grade. I felt I needed to do whatever was best for my team.
As a Defensive Lineman, I had the most sacks on the team with 9 sacks for the year. I am still training hard in the weight room and continuing to learn the Defensive End position by working on my hand skills and working on my speed.
I am willing to play any position on a team that a coach needs me to fill. I have experience on both sides of the ball and I am a proficient Long Snapper.
As a LONG SNAPPER, I feel I can be a great contribution to any team. On December 28, 2013, I was invited to the 1st Annual DB Guru Veteran's Bowl hosted by Coach Tony Perry endorsed by Tom Lemming as a guest speaker and announcer. Coach Perry initially invited me as a special team’s player but as the week in practice went on, I was named the starting RT D-end for the game. Please feel free to contact Coach Tony Perry 559.412.6686 on my performance during the game.
I believe that I would be a student any University would be proud to have and I would make a positive contribution to any program. I have a strong family support system that believes in me and my ability to succeed.
I would appreciate your consideration on becoming apart your team.
