Personal Statement
Being a dual sport student athlete is about much more than simply good grades or great statistics. My definition includes being a leader and a man of good character on and off the field. Examples include pushing my teammates to perform drills that customarily they may not have been able to complete, running extra sprints so that I can push the linemen a bit harder, supporting my teammates in the weight room that need extra motivation, working hard for my educational pursuits and doing all of this while gaining the respect of my teammates, my coaches and the many other influential people around me. As a result of my leadership, approach, dedication and work ethic I received the Orange Lutheran HS Jacket of Honor and also the Academic Excellence Award in 2016. Further I received the 2015 LANCER Award for being the player the most embodied excellence in character, academic excellence and athletic competition at the highest level. I hope these characteristics help me to continue my academic and athletic pursuits at the collegiate level – a goal I have had since I first stepped on the football field.
