Personal Statement
My name is Robin van der Laan, I am a 6'5, 245 pound Offensive Tackle for the class of 2018. I work very hard all year to improve my game and my strength. I do whatever it takes to get better. I watch crazy amounts of film everyday until I know everything about my opponent. I don't want to beat the guy in front of me. I want to dominate him. I want him to remember my number. I study the entire defensive line so if they've switch their defensive end I will be prepared. I take no chances when it comes to winning. I inform all my teammates about their matchups and what that specific lineman likes to do. I do weight training year-round and I also work with a personal Offensive Tackle football coach during the off season.
Football has always been a big part of my life ever since I started playing at the age of seven. I played for regional leagues and pop-warner until High School.
During my High School Career, I was fortunate to start on the offense line since the first game of my freshman year. My main attributes are my work ethics, strength, and desire to win. I love to hit on the field and I also work hard in the weight room to make myself a better and stronger player.
When I am on the field, I use my footwork as an advantage when I go against quicker and stronger players.
I plan to attend college after high school to help me grow academically. I have a deep interest in journalism, especially sports journalism. On the field, I am a dynamic player and a positive influence on the team. My college years will be important years of personal growth. I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, because I know that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend. I am confident that I will make a good addition to the right School's football team and overall community.
I would like to find a school at which I can succeed academically and contribute to the football program.
