Personal Statement
My name is Cameron Marriott and I love playing football at Redlands High School, Redlands, CA!
I have played tackle football since I was eight years old. I played six years of club ball for Jr. All American Football where I made All-Conference my last two years prior to starting high school.
As a freshman, I was a very focused and driven player. The effort paid off and I earned starting positions as both an offensive tight end and a defensive linebacker, and was selected as a captain.
My sophomore year, I started off as a defensive end. Based on position needs, I was moved to offensive line. Due to my strong mental and physical understanding of the game, I earned a starting varsity position as the right tackle. I started all 10 regular season games as well as two playoff games.
As my junior season approached, team position needs changed again and I was moved to the starting varsity center. This position requires skill, knowledge, and a strong physical presence. I also contributed to defense when opponents were scoring position. I was fortunate to be awarded Most Valuable Offensive Player and received all-league recognition. I also competed in track and field - focusing on discus and shot put.
During my senior year, I was honored to serve as captain, and competed as both the starting center as well as starting defensive end and long snapper. I was also recognized as Most Valuable Offensive Player. I'm proud the fact that I haven't given up a sack in over 22 games.
I am proud to say that I am not only a sports athlete but also a student-athlete. The ability to maintain a high GPA while playing a mentally/physically challenging sport takes discipline and drive. My goal is to attend a four-year college/university and play football while getting my education. This can only be achieved through a balance of academic success, mental determination, and physical proficiency.
I look forward to hearing from you.
