Personal Statement
Hello, My name is Dane Griffin. I am 17 and will be graduating in the class of 2012. I would like to attend an accredited college or university that has a well developed student culture, provides opportunities for motivated student athletes, and has a good football program. Though football and studies take up the majority of my time during the school year I also love listening to music and I enjoy spending time with friends, many of whom are team mates. In fact, a couple of my team mates and I frequently have freestyle rap sessions. I feel like I have a good start on some kind of football career, wherever that may take me. I was the only sophomore that started on my high school's varsity football team last year and that was as a defensive end. I'm told by my coaches that starting in that position as an underclassman is not that easy to do. I'm very focused on weight lifting and during this off season have seen my bench press and squat max increase quite a bit. I'm never satisfied with where I am physically so I always push myself to get better. Though I feel that quickness is one of my better attributes I continue to work on making it my outstanding attribute. I also focus on improving my speed and 40 time because that is so important in football. We did a lot of speed training in lacrosse this past spring season and that has helped. By the way, I won the season MVP award for my high school's Lacrosse team, also as sophomore. I feel pretty good about that. Basically, I love to play football and hope to be involved with it for years to come. So I hope to ultimately play football for a larger university. Though I don't really care where that is geographically, I would love to play for a larger school Thank you!
