Vince Lombardi said, "It's not whether you get knocked down,it's whether you get back up." My name is Austin Worbington. I am a 5’ 7” junior, and I weigh 155 lbs. I attend Falcon High School in Falcon, a small town east of Colorado Springs, Colorado. I currently run the 40 yard dash in 4.56, using electronic timers. I have been playing football since I was six years old. I have played for school and club teams in various positions including quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and defensive back. In the eighth grade, I was the starting quarterback and team captain and led my team to a Runner-Up Title in the TCL (Tri-County League) Championship. I earned the starting QB position over a senior half-way through my sophomore year and led our team to the 4A State Playoffs. I was the starting quarterback my junior year and also led our team to another 4A State Playoff appearance. I am a 2-time selectee to attend the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio, TX as an underclassman and as a junior. I feel I would be more beneficial to a football program as an athlete as I can play receiver, defensive back, punt returns, kickoff returns, as well as kicker and punter. I am a hard worker; my coaches always say that I give 110% on and off the field and in the weight room. I am usually the first one to arrive for practice and the last one to leave. I stay after practice and talk to my head coach and my quarterback coach to ask and learn how I can improve my abilities. I feel I have the drive and dedication to play college football. I recently received the Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Year Award and have been selected as a 2-time Football University Top Gun candidate. I believe that a good leader leads by example, both vocally and physically. "A man can be as great as he wants to be," said Lombardi. Although my desire is to play college football, it is more important for me to attend a college that will offer me a quality education. At this time, I am not committed to any specific location or region. I currently hold a 4.07 GPA, and I want to receive an excellent education and be able to contribute to a team by being a starter. At this time, I would like to study sports medicine or personal training, but I am keeping my options open. My favorite classes are chemistry and math. I will be the starting quarterback as a junior for our Varsity team. My goals are to continue to produce high grades, earn starting positions through my remaining high school years, to be the best leader I can be, and also I want to lead by example and inspire my teammates (Brothers) and myself to do our greatest. I want to keep going 110% on and off the field and in the weight room as well as be the best student and football player I can be.
