Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement. My name is Tayven Bray (2018), I am a 6’3” 215lbs left guard and defensive end at Thunderridge High School in Highlands Ranch, CO. I have a 3.0 GPA and slated to take the SAT in April.
I became interested in sports at a young age as my parents enrolled me in sports as I had too much energy. I tried Soccer, Lacrosse, Basketball, and Baseball, but Football is the sport that I enjoyed the most and wanted to keep playing the game. I started playing flag football when I was 4 years old. Years later when I was 9 and in the fourth grade I played my first year of tackle football. I have been on teams that have won championships and other teams that have lost about every game, but my love for football has always remained the same.
As a freshman I started at a new school were I only knew one or two people, but my work ethic and skill earned me a spot to be a captain. I played both ways nearly the entire game during my freshman year. As a sophomore I played varsity as an offensive right guard. It was difficult being a small lineman (6’1” 180 lbs), but playing up is something I have always done and I just needed to try harder and be the best technical player. Also as a sophomore I was invited down to San Antonio, TX to participate in the U.S. All American Combine. As a junior I played left guard and I also played half the game as a defensive end. My hard work and technique was rewarded with second team all-conference award.
In addition to football, I wrestled varsity at 285lbs and do varsity track were I throw shot-put and discus. I also workout with a trainer twice a week to improve my speed. Lastly, I hold a part-time job at a country club where I wash dishes and prep food.
It is my desire to play college football at the highest level I am able to and make an impact for my team. I am open to any region in the country. I am hoping to pursue a business management degree or a degree in sports medicine.
