I was born in Louisville, Colorado, and raised by my mom and dad along with my older brother. Growing up I was an active kid and always wanted to be outside. I loved running around with my brother, playing catch with my dad, and going out for little league and club sports. As a kid, I tried out a variety of sports from baseball, to basketball, and even hockey, but the sport that stuck with me the most was soccer. I always had a big leg in soccer, so when I was in 8th grade and football was on TV, something clicked. I saw the kickers and thought to myself "I could do that". I went out, bought a football, and spent all of the free time I had at my middle school's field teaching myself how to kick. After months of practicing over and over, I could kick a 40-yard field goal and eventually, I could kick 50 yards.
By the time I started high school, I had fallen in love with kicking. I decided I would take a risk and try out for the football team. By the time our camp week was over, I had secured my spot as the starting kicker on the varsity team. High school was the first time I had ever played football and the game was a new experience. I knew right away that football was for me and that this was the atmosphere I wanted to be in. Spending time and getting well connected to my team and the group of people I was playing with made me realize how much I value the connections I made with my teammates and coaches. While football was great, there were definitely some challenges I faced and things that I had to get used to. My football practices were harder, longer, and more time-consuming than what I was used to. Football was every day and I had to learn how to manage my time in a way I never had before. Despite this, I knew I had to keep good grades to stay eligible and my parents and I highly value my education, so I worked hard in school, as well as on the field. At the end of the day, football has taught me about myself and what I am capable of. It has taught me that hard work pays off and that nothing in life is just handed to you. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities and growth that football has given me both on and off the field. I can’t imagine what my life would be like
