Jesus Chavez '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jesus Chavez. I am a junior at Dolores Huerta Prepatory High. I am currently 5'9, 210 pounds and on my way to getting bigger, better and faster and stronger. I have been a 3 year varsity starter as a linebacker. My sophmore year I started at linebacker and fullback. In my current junior year I am starting at linebacker and fullback. I also am in rotation at tight end. I never come off of the field, unless my coach lets me catch a quick break or we go to halftime. We have a team roughly around 30 guys and do not have the luxury of having 50 guys on our sideline for substitutions. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Our team calls this "Iron man football". We don't take breaks and we don't want to. We embrace iron man football because we know how much tougher of a team we are than everyone else we compete against. I love my team, I love football, I am willing to work as hard as possible to make up for my size but I don't think size is a factor. I will do whatever is needed and more to make sure I am the best student and football player I can be. I believe that is what makes me a leader on and off the field. I am not a typical highschool athlete. I know I am not the only one but I don't put myself in positions where my goals will be jeopardized. I don't go out and party every friday(I never have) I don't abuse drugs or alcohol(I never have). I know I'm not perfect but I always try to do the right thing and I am not going to put myself in a position to lose getting into college or playing college football; and I believe that is what seperates me from the others. I am not decided on my major but I am interested in business management,sports science, and physical therapy.
