Personal Statement
My name is Zach Spencer from Wray, Colorado. I recently completed my high school football career with a difficult loss in the first round of the 1A Colorado State High School Playoffs. I was proud to lead my team of Wray Eagles as their Quarterback over the last few seasons.
My high school stats at Quarterback include 21 games as a starter with a total of 3,149 passing yards and 37 touchdowns. I hold school passing records for the Wray Eagles in total passing yards in a game and in total attempts in a game. These records where broke in one of my two starts my junior year as we defeated are rival school Holyoke, Colorado in a thrilling fashion as I directed a big comeback win 38-37 to advance my team into the playoffs. Recently I was awarded an All-Conference Player Honor for our North Central League Conference and ranked #2 in the conference with 1356 passing yards on the season.
My evaluation from NCSA and from the National Underclassmen Combine coaches have been consistent, with my strengths being a player with a strong arm but good touch passer with command and toughness. My set-up and footwork have developed throughout this season and feel I have a little more quickness in the pocket because of the shape I have worked hard to get into. My GPA is 3.14 and my recent ACT score was an 18.
I have a strong desire to play quarterback at the collegiate level and am confident that you would find me to be a great asset on the field and in the classroom for your program. One word that I feel describes me and my high school football career would be perseverance; that is to take a steady persistence in a course of action, purpose, a state, especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragements.
