Personal Statement
One of my biggest goals that I am working hard to achieve is to be able to attend a great academic college/university and play football on either a athletic or academic scholarship.
I'd describe myself using three words: Hard work, Dedication and Versatility.
- Hard work- I work hard everyday on the field, in the classroom and in life to be the best I can be. In the weight room, I lift and work hard to make myself stronger. In the off-season, I work with my trainers, attend as many camps and combines as possible and lift with my teammates. There is always something I can work at to make myself better. On the field, I do everything I can to help my team win. In the classroom, I do all my work and push myself to learn more and do my best on every assignment and test. At night, I stay up and make sure I finish all my work and do the absolute best I could on it. I am very proud of my academic standing in my class and my GPA and work hard to maintain it. In my personal life I push myself to be the best person I can be. I try to live by the saying that a man's true test of his character is doing the right thing when he thinks nobody is looking. Community service is a big part of my life and I enjoy giving back to my community and helping others that may be less fortunate.
- Dedication- I set goals and don't quit until I achieve them. I've dedicated myself to being the best and not settling for anything less. For example I know that I am not the biggest, strongest or fastest player during a game but I am dedicated to giving 110% of myself to my team each time. To achieve my goals, I work hard everyday to better myself in some way, whether it is academically, athletically or personally. In Dec. 2012 I was a Week 14 Heart of A Giant Contest winner because of my determination and dedication to making myself a better player/person. My name was one of the 5 names displayed on the jumbotron at a Giants game.
- Versatility- I pride myself on being a versatile player. I'm a Guard but in addition have played multiple positions such as Center, Tackle, Tight End, Nose Guard, Defensive Tackle and Defensive End. In one of my games this past season my coaches called on me to play 5 different positions. I earned the Player of the Week Award but the best reward was the ability to adapt to the different positions helped my team win the game. This ability to learn and play so many different positions and do it well, I feel is a great boon and indicator of the type of player and person I am. My coaches know that I will always put the needs and goals of my team before my own personal goals.
