Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Matthew Hersch and for my whole life I have aspired to play football for as long as I could and at the highest level. I have played the position of quarterback since I was in third grade. I have traveled all over the country to play in tournaments in my youth, and now as a junior at Masuk High School, our team went 7-4, making the state playoffs. I threw for 160 completions on 275 attempts, 2248 yards and I led the state in touchdown passes, throwing 33. Also, I went all conference and honorable mention All-State and had the honor of being recognized the state not once but twice for state player of the week. My goal is to go to the best college I can for not only football but also academically.
I am 5 foot 11 inches and 165 lbs. To some, this may be short for a quarterback however I am the hardest working player and I don't only play with a fierce competitiveness, but also with heart. This detail of my life has influenced me dramatically. I learned from an early age that nothing will be handed to me because of my height. This only motivated me to work exponentially harder and I have proven to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to. I have known that I want to play football in college since third grade and have been working ever since then. I remember sitting up late at night studying defenses and tendencies since 7th grade. I know how hard I have to work and I am fully prepared to grow as a person and a player attending an university that fits me. I have learned many things from my many years of playing football including how severely necessary it is to set goals for yourself. I set a goal for 6 touch down passes in a game this season. Not only did I achieve this in only the second week, but also the sixth. Now as I enter the off season , I feel my passion for the game is what really sets me apart and will continue to set me apart from the other recruits.
I look forward to hearing from you and your program.
