Personal Statement

I played linebacker at Milford Academy in the 2016 season. I am taking this year off to concentrate on my grades, and to rehab my shoulder. I will play again next year, and be ready physically, and hopefully with over a 3.0 gpa or better. I will have 4 year's of eligibility left when I do play again. I grew up in a home where football was the priority.  My father and 3 of my uncles played the sport in high school and introduced the game to me at a very young age. I first started playing the game in third grade for the Amity Youth Program. I was the middle linebacker and tight end from then until tenth grade where I transitioned into an outside linebacker/defensive end hybrid specializing in pass rushing.

As a sophomore I came into camp as a fourth string option  but after a few weeks of hard work and smart play during practice I was able to climb the depth chart and eventually landed the starting varsity job and kept it throughout my high school career.

I am a student of the game and enjoy the film room  almost as much as the field.  The time that I spend in the film room and going over our defense schemes and plans of attack with my coaches is just as important as the game it's self.  It reminds of being young and watching Giants games on the coach, breaking down the defense with my father. I understand the importance of film study because you can have the most physical talent in the world but it would just be lost if you don't apply yourself.

I acknowledge that my grades aren't the best at this venture in my life and I understand the impact of this on my ability to play college football and I am striving to better them. I am aware that my grades are just as important as my play on the field which is why I hope to attend a post graduate program and focus and work extremely hard to improve my academics.

For the past 3 summers I have gone back to the Amity Youth Program and volunteered to teach the kids about the game and the proper way to play. I enjoy working with the kids because I see myself when I was younger and I remember how important that program was to me and my development as a player.

I am excited for the next act in my young football life and hope to only better myself academically and physically to become the best asset to any team I am given the opportunity to play for. Please take a look at my video from last year and this year, any feedback on my play would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You coach.
