Personal Statement

I have respectfully decommitted and Rescind offer from Temple. Temple is changing their offense to a Run dominate system and still holds the commitment however they have given me permission to see if there is a school that wants a Duel style or Pro Style QB that can provide more of a balanced approach.   I learn new offenses very quickly, reading hand signals and making split decisions at the line as the defense adjusts.  If a school needs  a very confident QB  I look forward to speaking with you.

I've been playing sports my entire life. I started playing football and basketball in third grade, I've always played on teams where my teammates were two or three years older and have started on every team that I have played on. I can remember playing in the front yard, I always had a football in my hand, pretending I just scored the winning touchdown, hearing the crowd chant my name! Each year I have been either a captain or a successful leader. My philosophy has always been to outwork the competition. I believe that it is most important to lead by example because "talk is cheap". I feel a sense of accomplishment when the team truly plays as a whole. It is awesome when I am in the huddle focusing the guys and seeing their conviction intensify. I love guiding them to a common goal of doing our jobs and winning. I would describe myself as a very quick minded tough player who can make the best out of every play even when it breaks down. I believe what makes me different from my peers is that I prepare and work harder than my competition and never rest on any past success...ever! It has been my goal to play football in college as long as I can remember. I plan on visiting 5-6 schools this summer. I have absolute confidence in my ability to meet the challenges of life on and off the field. In college I would like to study marketing/advertising, and philosophy. I am not looking for any specific region just mainly a school that appeals to me, is very serious about winning (as I am) and the student body provides a welcoming friendly atmosphere. I would like you to look at my links/press page and view a few examples of recent evaluations and recent pictures of myself. If you google QB Scout you can view older clips of my play. Please click on all of my press clips they contain pics and links to additional film or go to You tube...key word Ben Onett SR Clips Final
