Eric Meilahn '14 Recruiting Profile

     Football is not just a game, to me, but a way of life. The perseverance, dedication, commitment and total effort required in the game are the same traits needed to be a successful man, husband, coach and father in the future. I started learning proper football position, stance, and blocking/tackling technique when I was three and started playing three years after.

     I now lead my team’s offensive line as the Center. I also have experience at Guard. I love defense as well and have played DL and LB. I can execute and read Zone, Gap, and Man blocking schemes from both sides of the ball and continue to be the one my teammates and coaches rely on to make the in-game pre-snap line calls.

     At 210 lbs, I face and defeat D-lineman every week that outweigh me by 50+ lbs. There is more to offensive line play than size.  Through knowledge, positioning, and explosiveness, I will be a force to be reckoned with when facing my opponents. I expect to add muscle in the off season, with a goal of 230+lbs.

     Additionally, I am being coached by Jeff Dellenbach in Long Snapping three sessions per week and have attended the One on One Kicking Camp here in South Florida. I am committed to maximizing my Long Snapping skills.

     There is a lot for me to learn, but this one thing I know for sure. No one will approach the game with a greater degree of dedication. My ultimate goal is to make a career of coaching the greatest game on the planet. When I look in the mirror, I can honestly say, it is a football PLAYER and a future coach that I see looking back at me.
