*12-05-2015: Last night, our team traveled to Tallahassee for our State Semi-Finals game against Wakulla High School. It was a tough game, and we brought our all. In the end, we lost 34-24. Though we held our heads high, proud of what we have accomplished this year, I couldn't help but feel down. For me and the other Senior players, this was it - Our last night to ever put on our uniform. We cried and hugged, gave each other words of encouragement. Not because of the loss, but because this was the end of a huge part of our history together. Many of us grew up together playing Pop Warner and in other private leagues. Some of the guys have already committed to colleges, have jobs lined up, or are joining the United States Armed Forces upon graduation. We most likely will not see each other after graduation. Regardless, we know that we will always be together in spirit, no matter where we go. We will always be Clay High School BLUE DEVILS, brothers for life...
Coaches,
If available, I would love to try out for your DT Position, once my Senior HS career is over. While our regular season has ended, we won District again for the 3rd year, and are now currently in the playoffs. I am a dedicated, hard worker and will not disappoint you. To do that, I would have to disappoint myself, and I refuse to allow that to happen. I have given my everything for the love of the game - my parents and coaches have continuously supported me in reaching my team goals. I have played several positions (DT currently, DE, OLB, TE and Special Teams). I am not stuck in "my ways," and am always open to learn something new.
Academically, I work hard. I admit, I am not a great test-taker, but typically, I average all A's and B's. I am continuously working to improve my test scores with the help of my family and teachers.
As far as my future goes, I would like to major in Sports Medicine, specifically, orthopedics. In all my years playing football (since 2nd grade), I've witnessed some minor and heart breaking injuries. Our team doctor and athletic trainer have been great to our team. I want to help heal - get people back on track so they can continue their lives with little to no issues. Quality of life is what matters most.
I appreciate your taking the time to read a bit about me. I do hope to hear from you.
~ V/R,
Taylor Ballard-Oguma
