Personal Statement
I started playing community league football when I was in 7th grade. My dad, who was the coach at the time, told me that because of weight restriction rules in the league, I would not be able to play in any of the games. I was much taller and bigger than the other kids my age. I still continued to practice with my team 4 days a week and I attended all of the games from the sideline. I liked being a part of the team and playing football. I continued to practice with and support my team through my 8th grade year (I was still too big to play in the games.) In 9th grade, after two years of practicing, I finally got to play my first real game of football. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I really enjoy playing on the defensive side of the ball, but I am open to playing offense too.
I am 6'7" defensive tackle on the varsity team at Milton High School. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA through my freshman and sophomore years. Now, in my junior year, I am taking some college classes that are offered through my high school. I believe success comes to those who constantly strive to be better. I am always working hard to improve myself, both on and off the field. I enjoy being part of the team, working together, and helping each other achieve our goal. I am also on varsity track (discus) and weightlifting. I plan to gain more mass, improve my speed, and work on my strength in preparation for my next football season.
God has gifted me with a remarkable frame for athletics and the learning capability to maintain high grades. I am a very disciplined student and athlete. My parents have taught me the importance of having good character, being honest, and respecting others. My dream is to play football at the college level. I plan to major in business administration and graduate with honors.
