Watching college football on Saturdays, has always made me slightly envious. The crowd cheering, the announcing, but nothing more than the brotherhood. The team cared about one another on and off the field. This lead me to play middle school tackle football for the first time in the 7th grade. That year was as exciting as I expected. Just three games into the season, I got injured and couldn't play in any more games. That really hurt me to sit out. I was too scared to play after that, until my Sophomore year. My sophomore year showed me how much football can be and how much I love it. I realized that it would mean so much to be able to play collegiately.
During this time, I began receiving letters from colleges. It was nice to see the letters come through the mail. The excitement wore off slightly. I learned that there are people across the country working every single day to get better. College coaches want somebody who is willing to work and can contribute. My big play mentality sets me apart, because I want six points every time I touch the ball or to get a big block every time my teammate touches the ball. I want to play the players around me better. Off the field, I know that everything I do can be the difference. In the weight room, I do my workouts as if a college coach were right there evaluating me on whether or not to offer me. In the class room, I always do my best to keep a steady 3.91 GPA. I work to keep a good standing with my teachers, principle, and dean. Once again, any "slip up" can be the difference on whether or not I get a scholarship. In college, I would like to pursue a major in English with focus on Rhetoric & Argument, then go into law school to become a lawyer.
