Dear Recruiter,
My name is Houston Morehead. I am a 5'11", 16 year old, 175 pound junior at Arnold High School. I have been playing football for 11 years now. I am the starting right outside linebacker for my varsity team, and I love playing defense. My first ever varsity game, I had the most tackles, and only played for half of the game. Unfortunately, I'm not very blessed when it comes to my size, but I don't let that get to me, because I still go 110%, and hit the crap out of people full speed, because when it comes to hitting hard, size doesn't matter. When I first moved up to varsity, I got the nickname "hitstick" (like the thing on the Madden and NCAA video games) because I always hit really people hard. Luckily for me, I have the best linebacker coach that I feel that I could have. He played in the NFL, and is always improving my skills. I pride myself on being the most consistent defensive player on the team, having the least mistakes made. Before my first game, my defensive coach came up to me, and even though I'm not the biggest, and definitely not the oldest on the defense, he asked me to be the leader of the defense, and control it. And I'm not even the Mike Linebacker.
Academically, I have a 3.2 GPA. I am aware that this is an okay GPA and I am trying to raise it as much as possible the next 2 years I have of high school. I have been told Junior year is always the hardest, and I am ready for it. I study a little bit every day at night, because that is the best way to do it.
I know that there are so many athletes out there that want to play college football, and it is a fight. It is eating me up that I might have only 2 more years of football left. I don't care what division or school it is, I just want to be able to play football for another 4 years.
Statistic | 2012 Junior Varsity |
