Personal Statement
My name is J. Luke Christmas. I am the youngest of 5 kids and have lived in Tallahassee, Florida all my life. I am currently enrolled and playing football at Butte College in northern California, which is in the CA JUCO system. I have wanted to play college ball since the first time I put pads on in the 6th grade. I started playing football as a 5-year old in kindergarten and played through my senior year, only to graduate in May 2014. I played my last football game in high school with 2 of my best friends both whom I have played with on the same team since we were all 5 years old. I love football, I love everything about the game and getting ready for the game and I love the friendships it has brought into my life.
I am 6'8", 235 pounds (and gaining), and clocked a 4.9 40 the summer of 2013 at the FIU Prospect Camp. My last season in high school I started at TE and DE and played both ways for almost the entire game, every game. My favorite position is tight end but will play wherever needed. I also played basketball the first 3 years of high school and was the starting center.
At Butte I will be playing tight end for the Roadrunners this fall (2015). I took a gray shirt the fall of 2014, stayed under 12 hours in school, so I still have 5 falls to play ball. My goal is to play this year at Butte and then transfer for the 2016 year and play D1 or D2 football. I do want to get closer to home and pursue my future in coaching, especially as a strength and conditioning coach.
It has been my dream to play college football, so every practice or every work out I attend, I try to be the best and out work every person around me. I am in the weight room as much as I can be. In fact, my football coach said I was the hardest worker on the field. I have a drive to play, and I will never give up or quit.
I am interested in majoring in exercise science so that I can coach football and/or be a strength and conditioning coach. School is hard for me and I have to work harder than a lot of other people, but I do work. My major goal while involved in sports in college is making an impact on my team...and win a national championship! I want to learn the game of football inside and out while becoming the best player I can be. But more than anything, I want to make a difference and make my team better as a whole. I want to get a college education, play ball, and make a difference in the lives of the guys on my team and for my team.
