Fred McCoy IV '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Fred McCoy IV, commonly referred to a "Freddy" by my peers, friends and family.  I was born in Indiana and moved to Florida with my family when I was two.  Growing up in Florida has inspired me to appreciate being outside.  I love fishing, swimming, jet skiing, boating, dirt bike riding, etc. I believe I would equally enjoy winters in other climates with snow boarding, skiing, and hunting.  If it’s outside, count me in!  

I am currently a Senior at Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, FL with a 3.35 GPA.  I am a 4-year Varsity team starter and play wherever I am needed.  I've played both sides of the ball, offense and defense, but feel best when I am running through, over and around my opponents and running that ball down the field.  I was introduced to football at the age of 5 and honestly do not remember a time when I was not playing it.  The game of football always came and felt natural to me.  It is where I was first introduced to hard work, dedication, respect, persistence, commitment, and drive.  Practicing and playing in full pads and helmets in 90+ degree weather, hitting and taking hits, the dedication required to condition for a win and the resilience required when you lose – I have come to love it all.  As I approach graduating high school, I do feel like my best years are ahead of me.  I aspire to attend a college that not only offers me the best educational opportunity, but also the opportunity to continue doing what I love – playing football.
