Personal Statement
My name is Bruce Holloman. I will be a Senior this Fall at Winter Springs High School. I play Linebacker and Defensive End on the Varsity football team. I am 6'2" and weigh about 213 pounds. In the 2013 season, I strictly played Defensive End in order to best help the team where I recorded about 80 total tackles and 6 sacks. Our team finished the season as district champions and advanced to the Class 7A playoffs.
I hope to have a better season now that I have moved to a more mobile position, linebacker, and have put on about 30 pounds of lean muscle mass since the end of the 2013 season while not losing any speed. I have done this with the assistance of my personal trainers at Competitor Gym which is owned and operated by former NFL / New York Giants linebacker, Kawika Mitchell.
I ensure that my grades are always as high as they can be with good study habits and hard work. I have about a 3.5 GPA and take mostly honors and AP courses even as my electives. I scored a 1620 on the SAT while getting an 1140 on the math and reading combined. I also scored a 26 on my ACT in June of 2014. I am also a new inductee into the National Honors Society. I am unsure of what I would like my major to be in college, but sports medicine and physical therapy seems to be most interesting to me in terms of a future but I am still open to other possibilities.
I have been invited to participate in the 2015 Blue-Grey All American Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on January 10, 2015. This game features the top senior recruits in the country and I am honored to be selected.
I would make a good addition to any athletic program because I am a hard worker not just football field but also in the classroom. I can represent any program well and be a role model and leader for others to follow and be motivated by so they themselves can work hard and get better. I feel when I invest one hundred percent of myself to my coaches, teachers, and teammates they will do the same with me and it creates a bond that helps everyone to succeed.
