Personal Statement

Personal I'm Giles Amos. I am a 17 year old junior, recruiting class of 2016, and I attend The Westfield Schools in Perry, Georgia. I am 6'4 205 lbs. I play football, basketball, baseball, and take part in triple jump and the 400 meters in track. I have started my position in each sport for each of the three years I have been in highschool. I am a hard working athlete as well as working hard in the classroom to get my grades back up to where they are supposed to be. I am a member of the Perry United Methodist Church. I am a Culinary Arts Club member as well as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes member where recently I spoke at the annual Fields of Faith. Athletics and Accomplishments My primary position in football is wide receiver. Defensively I play free safety. I punt for my team, and also return punts, and play on kickoff team. I am currently the leading receiver for my team and led my team in receiving my sophomore year. I love football and am a very cooperative and coachable player. I have attended summer camps at colleges such as The University of Alabama, Auburn University, The University of Georgia, Mercer University, Kennesaw State University, and Mike Hodges camp at Middle Georgia State College. 3 years I was selected to the All-Nick Saban Team and this year I had the privilege of being invited to UGA's Dawg Night. In 12 games as a freshman I recorded 12 starts at wide receiver, and 8 catches for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns. My sophomore season in 13 games I recorded 13 starts at Wide receiver, 11 starts at free safety, and 2 starts at cornerback.Offensively, I recorded 26 catches for 567 yards and 6 touchdowns in a Wing-T offense. Defensively, I recorded 52 tackles to go along with 4 interceptions and an 18.3 yard average return. As a team we finished the year as region and state champions. For my efforts I was awarded to the All-Region and All-State teams. Also the All-Houston County, All-Middle Georgia teams. The WMAZ TV station awarded me with the "Rib-Rocker of the year" for the hardest hit of the season. Westfield, my school, is a GISA AAA member. Three of the above awards were chosen between 4-A and 5-A GHSA schools. I have been selected to the all-region teams in football, basketball, and track. I am an all-state, all-county, and all-middle Georgia player in football. Recently I attended an NCS punting competition in Birmingham, Alabama. Competing against competition from around the southeast, I managed to bring home the trophy and was ranked number 2 punter in the country on the list of the class of 2016. Plans It is my dream to play at the college level and am very willing to work to do so. With my size and ability to play multiple positions I feel as if I can help a team tremendously on either side of the ball, as well as a tight end on the offensive side or punter special teams wise.
