I would like to earn a business degree so that I can help my father with his real estate company and his church. Growing up as a twin and middle son in a blended family of eight siblings (two sets of twins), I know what it means to be a team player! Many times I’ve had to provide leadership with my siblings with household duties, community outreach projects and even finances due to struggling times. I even started my own lawn care business.
Growing up small, I experienced struggles as well. I was always the smallest one on the team and I’ve always had to prove myself. When I was in the fifth grade, I went an entire season without getting any playing time except for one game. My mom and dad would get so upset and my dad even spoke to the coach and asked me if I wanted to quit the team. One game, the assistant coach’s son didn’t show up. The coach hesitantly let me come off the bench and play. I ran over 100 yards that game and even scored a touchdown, earning the nickname “Mighty Mite” with the parent fans! However, I still sat on the bench for the rest of the season. I felt very discouraged until my middle school coach insisted I play after watching me play pick-up ball at recess. I decided not to quit and have excelled in three sports as a starter since that experience. Off the field, I was fortunate enough to be selected into an exclusive Youth Global Ambassador program. I received full scholarships for the past three years to travel overseas to several countries like Germany, Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica due to my citizenship and community awards in school. The experiences of growing up in a large family, playing sports and traveling overseas have taught me how to be team-focused, tough-minded and socially responsible. I truly understand the importance of having a global perspective and a good, well-rounded education.
I live for football. I love the contact and comradery of the game and how it makes me feel like I have a special gift that I can use to inspire others. I am committed to making my family proud and getting better. I plan to start dual enrollment in the spring and work hard in the weight room to get stronger. I would like the next part of my journey of achieving my goals of earning a college degree, leading the family business and playing football at the next level to start with your school and your team!
