Personal Statement
Aloha,
My name is Manuia and I am a senior at Waiakea High School in Hilo, Hawaii. I have always dreamed of playing football and I have also been entertained by it. However, living on a rock in the middle of the sea made it hard for me to enjoy it. Ever since I was four years old, I always loved football, but being the local citizen that I am, I haven't had the time to enjoy playing. My brother, who was six years older than me, played football and taught me somethings about football, but I never remembered what he says. I loved to play sports, but football was more fun then everything else. When I reached the third grade, I was eligible to play football. So my father signed me up to play. Ever since then, I never stopped playing football. I found it to be the only way me and my brother connected together. He loved to play football and so did I. However, when he graduated high school, he never made it to college. It has always been a dream for me, and my brother, to play football in the NFL, and since my high school football career is over, it's hard to keep that image alive. Everyday is a struggle, from figuring out how to pay for college to worrying if I will get to college. However, I am reminded everyday that life is a struggle, but it's what you learn from it that you will find success.
