Personal Statement
I am Billy O’Neill, a 5’9”, 185 pound Running Back and Safety (class of 2015) at Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa. I run a 4.60-40 yard dash, bench 240 and squat 405. I am dedicated to training and bettering my skills on and off of the field.
My Varsity team runs a five receiver spread, passing the ball 99% of the time this year which has had an impact on the amount of offensive playing time that I have received this year. Defensively we run a 3-4 defense based on the defense run by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in which I am primarily used as a Bonus Safety. While I have not received the playing time that I would have hoped for this season, I have maintained my commitment to training and to the team by helping in any way that I can. I have a solid work ethic on and off of the football field and constantly strive to improve myself and those around me.
My work ethics in the classroom are the same as they are on the football field. I currently have a 3.8 GPA (out of 4.0) while being enrolled in two AP classes (AP History and AP Literature). I have always challenged myself in the classroom by taking the hardest classes available to me and have been in honors and high placement classes since elementary school. I have taken advantage of the opportunities available to me in high school to better prepare myself for college.
It has always been my desire to continue my football career while attending a University or College. I bring a solid work ethic, desire, and competitiveness to everything that I do and I look forward to the opportunity to continue as I take the next steps in my academic and athletic careers.
