Personal Statement
To play college football for me would be a dream come true. Ever since I first stepped onto the football field in First grade, it has been a game I have loved and could not live without. Football is something I work every day for to become the best player possible that I can be. I truly believe in the saying "no days off". I look at every day as an opportunity to get better and I always look to seize that opportunity. I'm in the weight room every day working on my strength, and I'm always putting forth time every day to work on my speed. My older brother told me that in life you will only get one shot at your dream to play college football. He told me to make the most of it and if I really want it, I have to personally go make that dream come true, so that is what I'm doing every day.
I realize to become the best football player I want to be, I also have to become the best student I can be. I achieve to become great in that aspect also. To begin high school, my freshman year i had a 3.5 GPA. Sophomore year I then moved it up to a 3.75. Currently in my junior year, I now have a 4.0. Every year, my GPA rises and that is an example of how I continue to work harder in the classroom too. I want to be the best student athlete possible and with my hard work, I continue to make that more and more possible.
Ever since first grade, I have been playing football. However, my junior year was my first year playing middle linebacker for the varsity football team. I recorded 83 tackles in 10 games as well with 6.5 sacks. Throughout the year, my play at middle continued to get better and I continued to grow as a leader as the season went on also. For example, my first two games I recorded 18 tackles. In the last two games I then had 29 tackles. In the last game alone I recorded 17 tackles to go along with 2 sacks. My growth and my progressions I made with my key reads grew greatly. After the season I was then named captain for the 2015 team to show the leadership I carry.
As I have said multiple times, I dream of playing college football. I truly believe wherever I end up going, I will become the best student-athlete possible that I can become. It's not just about achieving the goals I set for myself, it is also about making my family proud. Ever since first grade, my mom has recorded some of my football games every now and then and has taken pictures just for the memories. One video from second grade I will never forget is when my mom was on the phone with my dad, and on the video I get the ball and run for my first touchdown, all you hear on the video is my mom crying and explaining to my dad how happy and proud she is of me. I hope to make memories and make my parents proud like that for as long as I can, and for that reason also is why I put in the work to get better every day that I do.
