Personal Statement
My aspirations are to go to college, not necessarily for sports but to earn my degree . I am a young man from Chicago and its tough growing up here and I want to be the example for my community that even though all odds are against us we can succeed . Football became a love of mine in grammar school . While in grammar school I was over weight to some people's standards , so I was bullied a lot by peers . Often I found myself being called rough with other kids , but in my eyes I was to young to pay attention. Once my father put me on the field it was a wrap . Not only could I express my emotion , I could use my strength and turn my playful energy into pure adrenaline for football . Over the years I have continued to excel in my craft which is getting to the ball carrier . Along with my exceptional football talents , I am also working toward becoming a better student . I pick up on lessons really well and I love to gain knowledge . In my home my parents stress that knowledge is power . As a senior now , I know things are starting to unwind but that leaves no excuse for me to get sluggish in my education. I am readily trying to get my grades up as much as possible to give myself an edge over other recruits . One thing I also feel that gives me an edge over others is my character . I have a very keen and lovable character . I am a very social person and I am most happy when I see others enjoying themselves . I am very family oriented and I am trying everyday to set an example for my younger siblings while following the mentorship and example set by my older brother who inspires me. I know this process is competitive, but I am confident that I can be a valuable player to any one willing to take a chance on me.
