Personal Statement
I am the seventh football player in the Edwards family to play football at Downers Grove North. My Uncle, a tight end, was recruited by Purdue University. My father, a middle linebacker, played at Indiana University. My cousin, Tommy, walked on as a defensive back at the University of Iowa. And finally, my cousin Garrett, a free safety, played at the University of Illinois. All of the seven family members were WSC All - Conference selections and All - Area. Three of them being first team All - State selections.
My personal goal is to play Division I college football. I am the second sophomore quarterback to start at DGN since 1974. I run a split-back veer option offense and shotgun spread in which I totaled 900 yards rushing on 5 YPC and 11 rushing touchdowns. Passing, 500 yards passing and 6 touchdowns.
Academically, I have a 3.83/4.0 GPA and rank in the top 15% of my class.
I also play basketball and was on the varsity team as a Freshman. I started as a Freshman and currently am as a Sophomore. I have received interest from Division I schools in basketball as well.
My school belongs to arguably the toughest conference in the state of Illinois, the West Suburban Silver. Six out of the seven teams made it to the IHSA playoffs this past football season. Downers Grove North, who hadn't made the playoffs since 2008, made it back with a 5-4 regular season record. In the playoffs, we reached the quarterfinals losing on a last second play to Benet Academy as time expired. On our run, we defeated the #1 seed Batavia and Thornton both of which were on the road.
