Personal Statement

My name is Grant Pitcher and I am a Varsity Outside Linebacker and Strong Safety currently playing for Hinsdale Central. My main goal in football is to be able to use my football skills and opportunities to get into a prestigious college or university. I think that being part of a football team in high school and especially in college builds positive character traits that are carried with you for your entire life. Football can teach you how to work hard and achieve your goals. It can teach you how to persevere when you lose. And, it can teach you how to work with a team.

I have been playing football since I was 10 years old and I have played almost every position. I have no doubt that having learned almost every position on the field gives me a distinct advantage in understanding the Xs and Os in football. I also take pride in the fact that I am my own toughest critic. No mistake I make on the field, in the classroom, or in life is something that I take lightly.

Athletically speaking, I grew up playing 7 different sports so the idea of an off season never really crossed my mind. In my time between track and football regular seasons I train just as hard as I would in-season. For my position, I feel that I have a unique combination of size and speed considering I am approaching 6'1" 200 pounds and that I have dropped 3 tenths off my 40 time in the past year.

Although I do not share the same love for schoolwork as I do for football, I still understand that academics are higher on the priority list than football. I go to a very competitive high school where high performance in the classroom is not just common, but it is expected. I recently got a 4.66 GPA on a 5 point scale and I have participated in 3 honors and 3 AP classes in my high school career.

Thank you very much for taking the time to view my profile and I hope to hear from you soon,
