Personal Statement
My football story began--and almost ended--on August 17, 2005. During the first football practice of my life, I broke my ankle. Many people thought I would not come back, but I was determined to show them, and myself, that I could play football.
I am a competitor who loves a challenge. My short term goal is to attend a university where I will receive a quality education and where I can play football. I believe I have the qualities to obtain this goal: leadership and a thirst for knowledge. A good leader puts the well being of the team before his own, is not afraid to make a mistake, and leads by example. I try to prepare for everything because I believe the more prepared you are the fewer mistakes you will make. I always try to do my best in school and sports, and I am loyal to my family and friends. I truly believe that to whom much is given much is expected and that it is a privilege to positively affect the lives of everyone with whom I come into contact.
Everyone experiences failures and setbacks in life. That setback from my very first football practice taught me to not get discouraged, to never give up hope, and to always find something positive in a tough situation.
