My name is Garrett Purdy and I want to play football in college. I have enjoyed playing football since I was 8 years old. I attend Naperville Central High School from the DuPage Valley Conference, which is one of the most competitive large school conferences in the state of Illinois. I started at cornerback last year for our State quarterfinal team in Class 8A. I had 5 interceptions, 6 pass break ups and 40 tackles during the season to earn unanimous selection on the DuPage Valley All-Conference team and a spot on the Naperville All-Area team. I was also proud to be named to the Academic All-State team while maintaining a 3.71 GPA in school.
I participated in a traveling 7 on 7 league for Midwest Boom this spring on their most competitive team with several other college prospects. My Midwest Boom team won the Pylon Midwest Super Regional tournament at Youngstown State in February. I have also played high school and elite travel Lacrosse for several years. I believe playing Lacrosse has helped me become a better football player. Last year I was rookie of the year on the Varsity Lacrosse team at Naperville central High School that won a class B State championship. This year we reached the quarter finals in the class A State championship series.
I believe in hard work and leading by example. I lead the morning workouts and throwing sessions at my school as one of the only returning varsity players. We are there 5 days a week and started the morning workouts the Monday after football ended. I have been doing speed, plyometric and power workouts at Acceleration Naperville for 3 years. I have been and will continue to work hard through lifting and throwing workouts everyday, training with Midwest Boom as well as Acceleration Naperville throughout this offseason.
I bring a strong work ethic for my academics as well. I plan to study business, agriculture or teaching in college. I look forward to speaking with college coaches to learn about their schools and discussing how I can contribute to their programs.
