Personal Statement
As a Sophomore starting running back on the varsity team at Providence Catholic HS (New Lenox, Il), I led my team to the 7A State Football Championship where I scored 4 TDs, setting an IHSA Class 7A record for most points scored and most TDs scored in a state championship game. In doing so, I earned the Country Financial Player of the Game Award. During the 2014 season I had a total of 18 TDs which included 2 KO returns. Playing in a spread offense, my versatility was further on display throughout the year as a receiver out of the backfield, totaling 32 receptions. I also ran Varsity Track in the winter and spring season of 2014 at Providence.
In 2015, I started the season off strong with about 350 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns through the first two weeks until unfortunately spraining my MCL in week 3. I missed five games but came back with a strong finish to the season in the last two weeks. In those two games I rushed for about 175 yards with a touchdownand also caught 7 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. I am fully healthy now and having a successful offseason of training for my senior year.
I understand the importance of academics and work relentlessly in the classroom. I received straight A's in my first three high school semesters. I currently take honors classes in Chemistry, English, and Geometry plus AP History.
By dedicating myself in the classroom, on the football field, in the weight room, and in speed and power conditioning, I have become a role model and captain to my peers and the underclassmen. I never miss a scheduled day in the weight room including days when I completed military team workouts before school and track practice after school. I also serve on Student Council and have performed many community service hours.
My short term goal is to earn a scholarship to a successful academic and athletic college where I can make an immediate impact in both areas. My ultimate goal is to earn a degree and play football successfully throughout college.
