As a twelve year football player, I've had my fair share of snaps throughout my life, a fair share of successes, and a fair share of difficulties as well. The most life changing of these difficulties has shaped who I am today and given me a new outlook on who I am and what I can do.After my first game as a Sophomore, I found out that I had a concussion, and a very bad one at that. I ended up missing my entire season and even had to stay out of school for a couple of weeks. As I'm sure you know, a year of inactivity because of injury can be devastating to a player if they can't handle the adversity, but that isn't me.
After putting in a lot of hard work during the off-season, I came back as a Junior with something to prove to my teammates: that I was an asset, a gamechanger. There is nothing more I'd love to do than to show you that I truly do make a difference when I'm in a game, all you have to do is give me a shot. I work hard to get that opportunity, and I do not take breaks. During my off-season I do swim and water-polo to help stay in shape while also staying active in the weight room to gain some mass. As a swim team captain and defensive captain this year as a senior, I lead by example. I keep on my guys' backs and hound them to get into the weight room and push themselves, and I would say I am the most conditioned currently on my team. There's nothing I hate more than a hypocrite, and I will never ask someone to do something that I wouldn't do myself. I know what it takes to lead, and it wouldn't be a mistake to trust me with your team.
