Personal Statement

I am a 3 year varsity starter.  I have played guard, center, tackle and I am also a 4 star Chris Rubio long snapper (currently ranked 13th in the nation).  I recently was elected a co-captain for my senior season as voted by my teammates.  I will never back down from a challenge and continually strive to make myself a better student, leader, athlete and member of my community.  Education is a major factor in my college decision.  I'm a scholar athlete, a member of the National Honor Society, a past member of the Junior Honor Society and on the honor roll.  I am currently taking AP Honors classes and have a 3.87 GPA.  My goal is to earn a scholarship to be able to play at the collegiate level.  I would like to earn my degree from a university where upon graduation, I will be set for life.  I feel I have much to offer my future educational institution and teammates.  I posses leadership qualities, a work ethic that is second to none, and the desire to be great both in the classroom and on the field.  I look forward to speaking with you regarding available opportunities.

  • Rubio Long Snapping Instructor Nolan Owens
  • 12/04/15 to 1/13/16
  • I have been training with Nolan Owens in preparation of the Chris Rubio Vegas XXVI competition coming up January 16th and 17th. I have recorded a personal best snapping time of .63 seconds on my 15 yard punt snap and I have been consistently timed in the .66 seconds to .69 seconds range. I can't wait for Vegas!
  • Camp/Event
  • Chris Rubio Long Snapping - Fall Illinois Camp
  • 11/15/15 to 11/15/15
  • Great camp! Timed at .70 seconds. Here is Rubio's review "Another good performance for Jake at the Rubio Long Snapping fall camp in IL. First off, he can pass an eyeball test in about a tenth of a second. Also, moves well on his feet. Ball can be VERY quick if he gets his butt all the way down and he doesn't think so much. Very smart Long Snapper that just needs to let the ball fly out of his hands. MASSIVE upside. Any coach in the country should keep a close eye on him over the next couple of months".
  • Camp/Event
  • Cornell Propsect Camp
  • 7/18/15 to 7/18/15
  • Camp/Event
  • FBU Central Ohio Camp
  • 7/10/15 to 7/11/15
  • I had a great time learning from Chris Rubio at the FBU camp. I had a personal best snap time of .72 seconds and received an invite to their Top Gun Showcase. Due to a prior commitment I will not be able to attend but I am very honored by the invitation though.
  • Camp/Event
  • Rubio Long Snapping - IL Summer Camp
  • 7/09/15 to 7/09/15
  • Great Camp! Listed as one of the Top 106 Long Snappers at the Illinois camp by Rubio. Can't wait for updated reviews to come out by September 1st. Update.."Solid day for Yelich at the Rubio Long Snapping summer camp in IL. He has tremendous frame with tons of power because of it. Form is good and he REALLY needs to trust it. Love to see him extend the ball a bit more and make sure he snaps with all of his power at all times.. Dripping with potential."

  • Rubio Long Snapping - National Vegas XXVI Event
  • 5/09/15 to 5/10/15
  • GREAT camp! There was competition from all over the US and Canada. Can't wait for rankings to come out July 1st. UPDATE as of 06/08/15 - Rubio Rankings are in. Per Rubio's website "Another big jump in the rankings after what I saw from Jake at VEGAS XXVI in May. Kid is dripping with potential. His release point needs to be the same on every snap to increase the accuracy of his punt snaps. Legs are getting involved well and he has good power. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the .6s by XXVII if not sooner. Keep a very close eye on Jake!"
  • Camp/Event
  • Rubio Long Snapping Spring IL Camp
  • 4/12/15 to 4/12/15
  • July of 2014 at my first camp I was ranked 203 out of 260 long snappers for the class of 2016. Chris Rubio's rankings came out 5/01/15 after this most recent IL camp and I have moved up to number 75 for my class and number 2 in the state of Indiana earning praise from Chris Rubio "Massive jump in the rankings for Yelich and well deserved after what I saw at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in IL. He is a very smooth Long Snapper that shows good accuracy and flexibility. Love to see him really focus on locking out his legs and getting full use of his lower body to increase the speed. Locking his legs will allow him to get in the .7s for punts. TONS of potential" I can not wait for Vegas XXVI on May 9th!
