Attending college has never been a choice in my family. We have always known that it is the expectation to ensure the brightest future possible. We are a family of six including my sister Hannah who has now finished college with a dual undergraduate degree(s) in business and biology. I have two younger brothers, Chapel who is 15 and Corey is 12. They are also student athletes in football, baseball and golf. My goals are still developing with regards to my passion and desires after my undergrad eligibility in academics and football. I do feel certain that pursuing a career in healthcare will be my path at least through the Masters level. Mom is a registered nurse who now teaches senior high school students from my high school how to prepare for healthcare careers. She also is a clinical data support analyst responsible for healthcare reporting to state and federal agencies. My dad is the CEO of the small health system here in Auburn Indiana. He and mom are very clear that the right education makes an individual responsible, wiser and prepares a person to make a difference. I am performing on and off the field now. With college support, coaching and the education I will receive; just think what I will be able to accomplish as an adult.
As DeKalb High School's starting Junior Quarterback of a team rebuilding its history with a new Head coach this year, lessons learned have been beneficial in understanding the game. Even though our goal of winning sectionals fell short, team successes and individual highlights are memorable. Our Seniors finally won games, receivers set records and linemen were given much deserved recognition for improvement. The knowledge of the game and skill required to communicate it on each down is my talent. The strength of my throw, the speed in my feet and visualization of the field continues to develop this off season with help from my trainers. My goal for next year is to ensure my underclassmen have an incredible experience in the classroom and on the field. For me, continue to build my character in preparation that my contribution at the next level will surpass the expectations of a new team and coaching staff.
If I wasn't born as a leader, I sure get great examples everyday. My parents and coaches are amazing. Not that they are perfect-far from it; which is just like on the field. Delivering the ball at each snap perfectly doesn't exist. It's all about the imperfect and the ability to convert every action into positive yardage. That's what I offer your school and why you will be successful with me as a leader and your quarterback.
Not only does every school regardless of level need a leader on the field, but every school requires a leader in the classroom, in the community and on campus. Not just when people are looking, but when people aren't around. I will make a significant positive difference to those around me. I will make a difference in the lives around me because of who I choose to be.
Thank you for your consideration,
Harrison
