Personal Statement

My name is Andy Sweet, I am currently 16 years old and a Junior at Westfield High School in Indiana. Westfield is a 5A football program located just north of Indianapolis.  It is a member of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. In 2013 we finished state runner-up and in 2014, 2015 we were sectional champions.

As a varsity quarterback I led my team in sectionals with two consecutive playoff wins as a sophomore. The first of the two wins in 2014 was against undefeated and #1 ranked McCutcheon.  As a sophomore, I started 2 games and played significant minutes in 3 other.   Additionally, I started as a wide receiver in 2 games. As a junior, I played most of the year at safety, with contributions as a spread quarterback in some games. Defense was a new and exciting position, and I'm willing to play any position in order to contribute to my team.

I have been a captain of every football team I’ve played on. My junior high team won 3 consecutive Catholic Youth Organization (archdiocese of Indianapolis) city football championships (6th, 7th and 8th grade), and our WHS freshman tied for the conference championship. As a starting quarterback, my overall record since 6th grade is 43-4. At Westfield, my record for freshman, JV,  and varsity is 25-4.

Additionally, I won the the Football Mental Toughness Award. I led my Westfield 7 on 7 team in the NFL HSPD National Tournament and finished in the top 16 of all teams. I am a member of the WHS track and field team and have participated in AAU basketball for 3 years. I have a goal of playing college football because of my love for the game. I want to play as long as I can. My passion for football results from a love of participating in a team sport and competitive grit which motivates me to do whatever it takes to win.
