Playing in a program that sets high goals for each player to reach their full potential has been an incredible experience. This has influenced me to excel in the classroom, on the field, mentally and physically. I have learned the importance of being a team player, being a passionate leader, and a disciplined teammate. In the classroom, I've set goals to graduate both high school and college with honors. Setting high goals, in both football and lacrosse, has pushed me to work harder both in-season and out of season. I've been on my team's "leadership council" for every year of high school and this has been an honor to serve my team this way.
The summer of my sophomore year I switched from playing middle linebacker (MLB) and stepped up to play Defensive Tackle (DT) because the team needed me there most, but I'm confident that I can play either DT or MLB at the college level. As a DT, I've usually competed against offensive linemen who are bigger than me, which has taught me to use my quickness, explosiveness and intelligence to my advantage. Being able to do my job consistently for my team has always been more important to me than my statistics, because our defense is designed for the DT to tie up the o-line, so linebackers can make tackles. I look forward to being a leader in a college football program where I can share my passion for the game while helping my teammates excel both on and off the field.
In 2016, I was the starting DT helping my team win the Indiana 5A state championship and I was awarded with All-State Honorable Mention as a junior DT. I always strive for success and meeting this important goal with my teammates was a great honor. I'd like to help my college team compete at the championship level as well.
