Personal Statement
I am a 6’3”, 275lb. 18 year old senior OC/DT/DE class of 2021, out of Clear Lake. I was Iowa Academic All-State and All-District lineman in 2020. I started varsity since day one of my sophomore year at center. I have a 4.0 GPA and take advanced classes. I have earned academic excellence as well as honor roll status my freshman, sophomore, and junior years and have maintained a 4.0 GPA each year.
In the classroom, I enjoy solving tough problems, and I take my academics very seriously. I have set the bar high for myself and plan on achieving great things through college and beyond. The thought of receiving a quality education, and the opportunity to play football at the same time, is exciting. I plan on studying biomedical engineering or biochemistry, then eventually going to medical school. I have the goal of becoming a radiologist. An ideal institution for me would be one that challenges me academically and holds me to the high standards I have set for myself. I would love the chance to play football at the next level with teammates that posses a similar drive.
Athletically, I want to play for a team where I can make a difference on the field of play, in the locker room, and working with my teammates in the classroom.
I was recently awarded All-District Lineman as a senior and All District Honorable Mention as a junior. I was blessed with the opportunity to play here in Iowa while so many others across the country are not going to have a season. I played this year for all my brothers who didn’t get the chance.
The teammates I play alongside with are important to me and I want to find a home where there is a sense of family. I believe with hard work and good team chemistry, any goal is achievable.
While lots of playtime is important to me, I know we live in a competitive world, so if and when I have the opportunity to fight for a spot, I will gladly take on the challenge . I believe a competitive football experience at a university with high academic values will be a great fit. I will consider any program in any part of the country, and I look forward to your call.
Coaches, I hold myself to a very high standard in all aspects of my life. Personally, I have set up a system that keeps my priorities in check to make sure I am always organized and prepared with family, academics, and athletics. I believe that this system is best represented by the way someone builds a house. My family is my foundation. If my foundation isn’t strong, the rest of my house will fall. Academics and education are the framing of the house. Once this is built sturdy, I can add all the details, which is the fun part, athletics. This is what sells the house: details and design, the sizzle, the curb appeal. My strong connection with my family, and my effort in the classroom allow me to have the ability to give athletics and the weight room 100% and do my 1/11th on the field. When I’m in a rut and feel overwhelmed I can always fall back on my sturdy framework of "my house" to push through any adversity.
I am eager to work hard, ready for your high expectations and cannot wait for a chance to meet you, visit your program, and show you what I’ve worked so hard to achieve. Please get in touch with me and my family to discuss the next steps. I believe I will be an asset to any college football program, and I thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
