Personal Statement

Dear College Recruiters:

My name is Jacob Rominger and I have the desire to play football at the collegiate level. I am currently a Senior and play Quarterback. I weigh about 205 pounds; I am 6’2” and am very quick and strong for a quarterback. I play for Blue Valley Northwest High school which is located in Overland Park, Kansas. Although I did not start at quarterback last year (I backed-up a senior signal caller), I started at linebacker so I have Varsity game experience. I love football very much; I have been playing since I was about 10 years old. When I was in eighth grade, I played for Red Land Patriots, my club team, and I started quarterback and led the team in an undefeated season and went into the playoffs. As a freshman, I started on the freshmen team at both Linebacker and Quarterback. As a sophomore, I started on the sophomore team at Quarterback, JV team at Quarterback and Linebacker  and started Varsity on Special Teams. This past year, I attended multiple National Underclassmen combines where I won the overall quarterback MVP at each one (Local, Regional and National). I also competed in a Nike SPARQ combine where I ranked at the 87th percentile for all athletes at the Quarterback position in my class. As for academics, I study and keep my grades up as I have a total GPA of 3.61 in my high school career. I also have a 22 score on my ACT and knowing I can improve have signed up for another test date to retake the test. My goal is to bring my leadership qualities and talent to a team that is willing to have me. I would love to continue my college athletics at a good school that I can play football and get a quality education. I know I can bring a positive attitude to your school and will bring my hard working and winning attitude with me as well. I am a competitor and I will put forth my best effort in everything I do. To conclude my statement, I hope you find interest in me and I would love to become a student athlete at your school. I would love to make my dreams come true in playing college football.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Top Prospect National Underclassman Combine -Elite 100
  • 7/20/13 to 7/21/13
  • Named combine QB MVP. Combine write-up: Jacob Rominger, Blue Valley Northwest, KS Official Size: 6-2, 203 Assets: Rominger was the one of the signal caller that really passed the eyeball test. He stands tall in the pocket and has enough arm strength to hit his spots. Rominger looks great in one-on-ones and structured formats of throwing. It's obvious the skill set is there he just needs game experience. During 7-on-7 he was able to lead his team down the field taking what the defense gave him. In doing so he led his team to the Championship game. And you know this former linebacker has the physical toughness to hold up under duress. For his strong performance he earned QB MVP for the second NUC event in a row. At the QB position consistency is what really counts. Development: How will he react when the rush is on? Early on he will need to know where his check-down routes are while in the pocket. The other area he will need to work on is keeping his eyes downfield as long as possible. It's hard but he must not get into the habit of tucking and running when things get intense.
  • Camp/Event
  • Midwest U100 National Underclassman Combine
  • 6/30/13 to 6/30/13
  • Named combine QB MVP. Testing - 4.89 sec 40 yd dash, 4.31 sec shuttle, 8'6" broad jump, 28" vertical, 16 reps at 185 lbs.. Combine write-up: Jacob Rominger, QB, Blue Valley Northwest, KS (2014) Testing: 6-1/203, 4.89 40, 4.31 Shuttle, 28 vertical, 16 reps 185 Assets: Rominger came into this camp as a virtual unknown having played linebacker last season as a junior while backing up a senior signal caller. But it did not take him long to grab the attention of the NUC coaching staff. During individual position work he looked very confident and competent throwing on the run by squaring up his shoulders at his intended target. The ball was released with a compact throwing motion and consistent spin. Rominger continued his strong day in the one-on-ones hitting targets all over the gridiron. He then led his team to its only two scores in the first round of the 7-on-7 tournament. For his strong performance he earned QB MVP. Development: The bottom line is this young signal caller needs game experience. How will he react to the lights, crowd and defensive pressure in his first start at quarterback? Rominger needs to become more confident and just let it rip instead of aiming the ball. This kid is real sleeper for some FCS or possible DI college.
